Episode 195 - Solo Sonic
Taped: 7/22/12
While Sonic is watching TV, Knuckles digs up through the floor. Sonic laments how he was told in the past that there would be nothing to watch on TV despite there being 500 channels. A commercial then comes on for Sonic Ghostbusters which drives Sonic into ranting about why he hates doing obscure crossovers. After he, Knuckles and Tails go through every third party game Sonic has ever done, he decides to head over to Sega Headquarters and give them a piece of his mind. They also go over his cameo appearances in TV shows, further adding to his chagrin. They arrive at the headquarters where an executive reminds them that they are under contract which tells them they must comply with whatever they're told. The executive also adds that things have changed drastically since 1994 and that the publicity meets new demands after each year. Sonic explains his endorsements were much better back when he was starting out than now and firmly believes he can do better without Sega. Tails joins him but Knuckles, seeing a new void, applies to be Sega's mascot and invites Shadow to be his new sidekick. Shadow accepts the role, despite Sonic's taunting, and the pair begin to see their future in lights. Back at home, Amy criticizes Sonic's decision to quit Sega and tells him that they depend on his contract to support the family. Amy also reveals that she is now obligated by Sega to chase Knuckles as her love interest which drives Sonic up the wall. He demands her to choose between Sega or himself and she leaves in tears. Tails begins to suspect that Sonic is taking the charade too seriously but Sonic brushes it off, even when Eggman complains about facing Knuckles as his new adversary. Sonia and Manic even try to talk him out of it, complimenting on him for the chance at stardom through their television show. Junkaholic arrives with a cardboard cut-out of Stormy and explains that even he is indebted to Sonic, even though he defeated him in his Junkzilla state. Sonia, Manic and Junkaholic try in a last-ditch effort to convince Sonic to go back to Sega but he is still firm with starting his own video game line. Cream calls Tails and she is also surprised to hear the news, telling Sonic that he and Tails never would have met if he didn't work for Sega. Meanwhile at Sega, Knuckles and Shadow marvel over their brand new masterpiece, Knuckles Heroes, in which they finally work together as a team. They confirm that they don't need Sonic after talking about their irrelevant sequels. Shadow begins to have second thoughts upon hearing Omochao will be playable in their brand new game and even moreso when there is a scene where he makes out with Rouge. Knuckles seemingly has no problem with it because in the games, Amy is chasing him now. When they start filming, Shadow admits that the game might not sell because Sonic won't be in it. Knuckles offers for him to have sex with her but Shadow still refuses. Meanwhile, Silver tries to film Sonic for a potential new game but he mistakenly left the lens cap on. Silver, not knowing what a lens cap is, destroys the camera and is yelled at by Sonic. He and Blaze chastise him for being selfish and refuse to help him any further. Sonic then recruits Big's help and after several hours they finish developing for a video game. They also have a promotion and poster ready to help advertise the game. At the video game store, they see Knuckles' brand new game and Sonic scoffs at it. The software distributor looks the game over and when he discovers it's for the Sega Genesis, he turns it down on the spot. He then visits James Rolfe with the intention of having him review it on Angry Video Game Nerd. When he plays the game himself, he claims it's one of the worst games he's ever played. So bad, in fact, that he's unable to review it. Knuckles and Shadow are optimistic about Knuckles Heroes but the Sega Executive delivers some bad news. Every copy of Knuckles Heroes came back because the games would not sell without Sonic. The employees begin to panic when Sonic arrives at Sega Headquarters, caving in to how much he owes the company for making him famous. Sega lights his old contract on fire and Sonic writes himself a new one, which the executive signs. They begin working on a new platformer, Sonic Classic, a downloadable game based on the retro styling of the Sega Genesis. Knuckles and Shadow also concede saying that Sonic is the mold that keeps them together. When Sonic arrives home, Amy is preparing to unbirth her children so that any remnant of Sonic will never exist. Sonic shows her the brand new contract and apologizes for leaving Sega in the first place acting like a jerk. Amy tells them all he could have done to avoid the fiasco in the first place was renegotiate the contract instead of leaving the company. Sonic explains all the perks of his new contract and Amy revealed she invited Cardboard Stormy for dinner even though she doesn't know what to feed him. They both agree that they need new actors before settling down for Knuckles Heroes. Cream is already playing the game and finds it so terrible, she breaks the TV. Amy and Cream then reason that it could be more fun playing the game either drunk or stoned so Sonic invites Charmy over, who provides the necessary entertainment. Knuckles agrees the game is so bad it's hilarious and in spite of it all, he's proud he made it. The gang agrees that making good games is what continues to make Sonic such a household name. Charmy discovers Sonic's failed Genesis game and finds it to be terrible. Amy wonders what happened to Tails who immediately shows up at Sonic's house with Big. Sonic patches things up with Tails who is amazed at the new contract he worked out with Sega. Knuckles then discovers Tails pulled Froggy out of Big for the sixth time in a week. Sonic suggests poisoning Froggy so this doesn't happen again because the show doesn't need toad-lickers. It's too late though because Charmy is already licking Froggy.
