Episode 191 - Locke and Key
Taped: 6/16/12
Knuckles and Lara-Le talk together about whether or not she should visit Locke for father's day. Knuckles believes she doesn't care about him anymore but she insists that such is not the case. He suggests they spend some time together off the island so they can catch up with what's been going on in their lives. Knuckles arrives at Locke's trailer where he has been drowning his sorrows in booze. He then asks his father if there's one place he would like to go but he isn't sure since no one has ever asked him that before. He decides to let him think about it overnight, also letting him know that someone is out looking after the Master Emerald in the meanwhile. At the shrine, Shadow is appointed interim guardian, much to Mace's chagrin. They argue about who will do the better job until Shadow roundhouse kicks him. The next day, Locke and Knuckles talk about their vacation together and the former suggests Istanbul and they make a conversation based on the song. While they pack up, Knuckles notices Locke is forgetful of doing his own laundry because he misplaced his detergent. Before they leave, Knuckles pulls a C4 blasting cap out of his carry-on and convinces Locke to leave the rest of his weaponry behind. They finally get to the airport, board the plane and arrive at Istanbul 15 hours later. They get to their hotel by taxi which is really a camel-drawn cart with the word "TAXI" painted on it. After checking into their room. they decide to give Turkish nightlife a whorl. They both go into what they think is a nightclub but is actually a brothel. Despite not doing anything, they are promptly arrested for prostitution and thrown in a jail cell. They sneak out due to the futile security of the prison and glide from one of the windows to a cave where they take brief refuge. Knuckles calls Lara-Le on his cell phone and asks her to send weaponry to Istanbul through Shadow's Chaos Control power. She goes to Locke's trailer and is caught in the act by Shadow whom she relays the story. Shadow is reluctant to help since he does not have any Chaos Emeralds in order to send the weapons to Turkey. The two go the emerald shrine where in a last ditch effort, Shadow performs the chant but nothing happens. They catch Big walking by holding a Chaos Emerald and Shadow promptly steals it from him and performs Chaos Control. Upon arriving, Shadow drops the weapons off and the three of them go on a shooting spree at the prison before Shadow Chaos Controls them back home. Knuckles admits it was the worst trip ever but Locke tells him that he had fun and he wouldn't mind going on a vacation next year, just not to Turkey. Lara admits it's nobody's business but the Turks and the episode ends.
Fun Fact:
Sonic makes no appearance in this episode. The entire 2nd half of this episode, beginning at the point of Knuckles revealing who his substitute will be, was redone due to a severe road block in the plot. The Randy Newman gag is retired as of (and as a result of) this episode.
Junky: Knuckles, Shadow, Turkish Cop
