Episode 182 - How Dry I Am
Taped: 3/23/12
PLOT:
Winston the Echidna has been drinking his troubles away at the local bar to forget about his wife. He staggers to his car and speeds off... in reverse... attracting the attention of the police. He plows through a construction zone and a forest before flying off an unfinished bridge crashing into a ravine causing a fiery, explosive, instant death. The accident prompts local officials to do something about the rise in alcohol-fueled deaths so the next morning, the Mayor announces Winston's Law is now in effect for Station Square. Under this law, alcohol is now banned and wearing or being green is illegal. Jenny barges in announcing her booze has been confiscated to which she reveals a list of who considers her a sexy drunk upon Sonic's questioning of just that. Chaotix shows up at Sonic's upon hearing the news, with Vector painted blue to cover his green scales. Sonic is quick to ridicule him when the GRA, Green Removal Association, pulls in and promptly notices Vector's disguise. Espio and Charmy find Sonia who tells them that Manic has also been detained and they recruit her into standing up to the mayor. Before they can do so, the swamp they're standing in is destroyed since it is mostly green. They reunite with Sonic and the rest of the gang in Station Square where they decide to ask Eggman for help. Sonia ventures to his fortress alone where Eggman mourns the loss of his green clothing, including girdles. Eggman convinces Sonia that they can take the Underground Eggroad using an Egg Mole to drive anybody else who is green to safety but by the time she gets to Station Square, she is too late. Sonic and Amy have also been arrested for having green eyes and Flash has been taken away as well. Knuckles then digs through the floor, claiming his Master Emerald has been confiscated and that Angel Island may crash down and cause a huge tidal wave. He also reveals that he knew Winston from Angel Island and that he was a total jerk. Upon seeing the Egg Mole, the crew realizes they could free their green friends from prison with it. They head off to jail where Manic has already lost his fur because of a shoplifting crime that was recently discovered by police and everyone else fears they may be next. The Egg Mole appears out of the ground and the crew is reunited. Because the wardens are on coffee break, Knuckles can take the unguarded Master Emerald back safely. Back in Station Square, Sonic, who turns out to have not been arrested after all, and Cream begin convincing the Mayor to repeal Winston's Law because it is way too ludicrous. When they bring up that arresting anyone just for being green is outrageous, the Mayor tells them it was a misunderstanding--he wanted to arrest anyone for being greedy, not green. Everyone else in the Egg Mole arrives just as the Mayor begins pardoning anyone who was wrongfully imprisoned and to make amends, he eases on the drinking penalties associated with Winston's Law. Winston's widow, Antonella then appears, angrily asking where her husband is, only to find out that he's dead. She explains the argument she had with him and isn't at all phased by her loss. Vector becomes extremely tired of Sonic's blue jokes and performs a Sonic Heroes attack by spitting Espio and Charmy at him. Sonia reveals to the group Eggman's obsession with green girdles. Meanwhile in Hell, Seamus, who was kicked out of heaven for constant drunkenness, is disappointed upon challenging himself to a St. Patrick's Day drinking contest between himself, Osama Bin Laden and Kim Jong Il while Saddam Hussein and Julius Caesar look on, wondering what life is like outside of hell as the episode ends.
