Episode 178 - Truth or Consequences, I'll Take Either
Taped: 2/10/12
The episode begins with Amy providing Cream with some extra baby supplies so they will be prepared in advance. Sonic is out coaching Roger Craig Smith on how to sound like him at Sega. Mephiles shows up at Chaotix residence posing as a CIA agent, telling Vector to round up all his friends because they are all wanted by GUN. He and the rest of the crew are suspicious so he calls everyone down so they can board the bus bound for the safe haven which turns out to be an abandoned warehouse. Manic, Sonia, Blaze, Silver and Platinum have also been called to arrive and when they get inside the warehouse, the door shuts behind them. They find a row of theatre seats and large screen and when they sit down, they are instantly shackled and strapped in the chairs. The entire plan turns out to be a trap set by none other by Mephiles himself, hell-bent on destroying Station Square. None of the captured friends can escape because the chairs are electrified, to the dismay of everyone who finds out the hard way. When Mephiles leaves, everyone tries to delicately get out of the chairs. They then realize the smallest one in the room, Charisma, can wriggle herself out easily and save everyone. She crawls out and pulls the fire alarm to warn Sonic. Meanwhile, a dissatisfied Sonic is becoming fed up with Roger Craig Smith's attempts to sound like him when an executive tells him about the disturbance at the warehouse. He discovers to his horror his trapped friends inside and Mephiles' intentions. Tails compares the sick joke to Truth or Consequences and Vanilla remembers Bob Barker hosted the show. Everyone realizes Bob can save them since he's an animal rights activist and they're all victims of animal cruelty. Sonic immediately rushes to find Bob who is attempting to put a stop to the stampedes in Calgary with Rich Fields. When Sonic tells him the scenario, Bob immediately becomes pissed. He and Rich accompany Sonic to the warehouse where he assesses the situation and recognizes that Cream is pregnant. He slips $500 in her "money slot," which everyone seems to be okay with, then joins Sonic in his search for Mephiles. When Bob realizes Mephiles is a hedgehog, too, Bob can't bring himself to destroy him. Upon discovering that Bob will unleash himself if another animal's life is in danger, Sonic convinces Mephiles to hurt him, which he does. Bob destroys Mephiles, declaring he overbid on his showcase while Sonic celebrates in agony over an injured leg. After Rich does an impromptu prize cue, Bob and Sonic return to the warehouse where they free his friends by overloading the decrepit wiring of the warehouse and blowing a fuse. Everyone is grateful to be free except Silver who is completely barbecued. Platinum tastes him, oblivious that he's eating his own father. Bob and Rich retreat to Canada. Sonic's family gives a group hug while Amy suggests he have his leg looked at. In Canada, Bob demands that Rich give him a sponge bath. Rich refuses, asking for a physical challenge instead.
