Episode 716 - Canceled
Taped: 3/31/24
Plot:
The Chairman of Holiday Entities calls a meeting for an update on the popularity of holidays. He rattles off some holidays that do not have serious recognition anymore. To Cream's shock, he announces Easter as one of them. The chairman presents her with a sample survey which Cream refutes as it not being an accurate representation. Cream walks out of the meeting too late for the chairman to say he planned on reassigning her to Juneteenth. Cream tells Tails about the decision, which leaves Tails flabbergasted that the chairman would treat her as such. They then break the news to their sons who don't take the news lightly. They love the Easter traditions, such as getting candy and the egg hunt. Cream goes outside to see Sonic's children doing yard work. When they hear that Easter's been canceled, they remember how fun it is to save the holiday year in and year out. They also resolve to help her no matter the cost. Cream's next stop is Knuckles' house where Wynona is painting Roger's head like an Easter egg. Roger and Wynona are just as shocked to learn that Easter's been canceled. Roger says Cream should start giving kids jewels, to the annoyance of Wynona. The family agrees they can try to boost Easter's popularity back to respectable levels once more. Cream goes to Lydia's house where she's in the middle of scolding Matthias. Lydia's a teacher, so she can get her class to convince the chairman otherwise. Cream goes to Swen and Eric where she's immediately hugged by Stevie. Swen tells Cream that Easter is about the resurrection of Jesus, which may as well not have happened in the chairman's opinion. Eric then reveals that Morris Hare was a good friend of his and that Cream is doing a great job filling in his shoes. Cream's last stop is Vanilla's who also gives her a boost because her job as the Easter Bunny means the world not only to her family but to millions of children across the globe. Cream has enough of what she needs to talk to the chairman, and her family goes with her for the support. After Cream speaks to the chair, she lets Sam speak and Miles gives him a box to stand on. Sam tells the chairman why Easter means so much to him. If Cream doesn't have the job, she wouldn't just be letting her family down, but all the children who believe in her as well. As Cream wraps up, the chairman gets a visit from his nervous intern. It turns out the the holidays intended to be on the chopping block were switched. Palm Sunday was the one with the unpopular rating, not Easter. The chairman apologizes to Cream for the mistake and fires the intern. The chairman grants Cream full control over future Easter operations and says she has now reached Santa Claus status with all the hard work she's done. Easter comes, and Cream is able to perform her duties normally for once. She drops off a family of peeps molded into Sonic's family at his house. Cream did this to all the children and their families as a thank you for believing in her. Mace and Marine also received one with special eggs containing mini peeps to celebrate their future parenthood. Tails and Cream celebrate the holiday with their sons in a more relaxed manner. Cream receives a picture of Stevie with her Easter basket in front of Swen and Eric. Tails pretends to bite Cream's ear, saying he'd rather have the real thing.
