Episode 465 - Hello, Neighbor
Taped: 1/7/18
Plot:
Vector, Vanilla, and Cream are at home enjoying a quiet New Year's Eve while the rest of Chaotix are having a pottery session to celebrate Charmy staying away from pot. Charmy jokingly asks is he's allowed to make phallic shapes, to which the instructor admits he encourages. After watching the ball drop, Vector and Vanilla tell Cream she can do whatever she likes for Charisma's birthday coming up because they're going out that morning. While Vanilla cooks pancakes for breakfast, Charisma and Chaotix are woken up by some loud banging outside of the house. A can of glue is thrown at their window, prompting them to open the curtain. They discover a misshapen house has sprung up next door to Swen and Eric with a weird man working outside of it. Chaotix can't investigate because Charmy gets a call telling them they have to respond to a case in downtown Station Square. Cream talks Charisma into going across the street to find out themselves and see some wacky things on the lawn, such as a car crashed into the fence. They ring the doorbell and a strange man answers to escort them back to their own lawn. This prompts them to go back to the strange house and sneak inside where they encounter a boarded-up door locked with a card-key lock. Elsewhere in the house, they hear all sorts of doors opening and closing which makes Charisma thinks the Scooby-Doo gang is trapped inside. They follow the strange man by solving puzzle after puzzle, but every time they find the strange man, he chases them to another room where they were they find even more puzzles. They eventually solve enough puzzles to access the boarded-up door, only for the strange man to send them back to their own home. Chaotix comes back having solved the case, and they notice that Cream and Charisma have a key card and a crowbar which they smuggled out of the weird house. They decide to check it out together where Charisma notices the two items she has can unlock the door. Upon doing so, a bright flash of light blinds them all. It all turns out to be Charisma's nightmare which Vanilla deduces came from playing Hello Neighbor, a game much too mature for her age. Vector gives the game to Chaotix because Charmy and Espio want to play it themselves. Cream opts to take Charisma out for pizza with the promise that she gets to choose a new birthday gift. Vector and Vanilla go out but discover a can of splattered glue on their lawn.
Fun Facts:
This episode is the first to take place at the new Boards.net site and in 2018. It's revealed that Charisma is a reasonably good problem-solver much like her father despite now being only 7 years old. The plot of the story was heavily based on the game Hello Neighbor with Cream and Charisma standing in for The Protagonist. (Update: It's later revealed that the neighbor and protagonist's names are Theodore Peterson and Nicky Roth respectively.) While Tails, Miles, and Sam weren't seen, it was mentioned they were also at Chaotix HQ for New Year's and were merely asleep.
