Episode 440 - Don't Rain on my Hit Parade
Taped 6/11/17
Plot:
With Sonic's bonus from Sega, he is able to buy Lightning a brand new stereo system as a reward for completing the fourth grade. Lightning turns it on, switching between songs from his playlist and Sonic's which he downloaded off his phone. Amy calls Sonic over on advice on how to fix the toilet and tells Lightning his gift will hopefully serve him well. A few weeks prior, Lightning gets on the school bus and starts singing and air-guitaring to "Proud Mary" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Lightning becomes oblivious that he's causing the scene, even with the Mr. Atkinson, the bus driver repeatedly yelling at him to be quiet. He finally does after the driver stops the bus and approaches him. Lightning apologizes to Lucy before telling him that he appreciates Sonic's music from the 70s and 80s and has his playlist on his iPod. This doesn't fly with Mr. Atkinson who threatens to write Lightning up for his performance. During recess, Lightning singing along on his iPod attracts the attention of Thane Fox who asks Flash if something's wrong with him. He gets caught again by Mr. Atkinson but he pushes it aside to stuff his face with cheeseburgers. Lightning swipes one when he's distracted, eats it and throws the wrapper away. Amy catches him in the act but tells him what he did was funny anyway even at the expense of Mr. Atkinson's obesity. Lightning volunteers to accompany Sonic to the tire shop since their van needs new tires. Lightning asks why the kids were making fun of him at school today and Sonic explains that times have changed since he was a kid; what was popular in the 80s isn't popular today. He still scolds him for singing along in the bus since Mr. Atkinson could have gotten in a major accident thanks to him. Lightning tells him how scared Amy is that he's getting to be like Sonic as he grows up. Sonic is flattered but says he shouldn't be stupid like him when he becomes a father. They arrive at the tire shop where they discover the shop owner likes the same kind of music Sonic and Lightning like, much to their surprise. In the present, Amy and Sonic leave Lightning alone with his new sound system as Amy reminds him of what went on when he bought it. Sonic sings along to The Eagles in the store and mistakenly hands a the person behind him in line his credit card instead of the cashier.
