Episode 423 - Fare Play
Taped 1/29/17
Plot:
Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow browse through Station Square's auto show where Knuckles seems adept in identifying the classic cars and their claims to fame but is really just reading the signs. Sonic notices an old taxi and takes Knuckles' advice that his celebrity status gives him the right to play around with it. A security guard notices Sonic inside the taxi and kicks him out with Sonic thinking he should start his own taxi business instead. Silver notices what happened and revels in the fact that he isn't the biggest idiot in Station Square anymore. The guys agree that Sonic should try being a cab driver so he buys his own taxi to get started the following morning. He reveals his new job to Amy who isn't too impressed, citing it as the second-stupidest thing he's done after trying to pawn Lightning. Sonic shakes it off while Amy tunes into the Lazy Town marathon with Sonic Jr. Sonic picks up a fat man handling groceries and takes him home while talking about the orgasmic meals his wife makes. Sonic then takes a woman in labor to the hospital but has to take a detour when a parade impedes their progress. She winds up giving birth just as Sonic pulls in and he ushers the new parent inside the hospital. Unfortunately, Sonic doesn't realize he's crossed into a rival company's territory, one that belongs to Axel from Crazy Taxi. Axel and Sonic have a bet: whoever can make the most money will have full control of their rival's routes. Sonic's first three rides are successes: an elderly man going to Burger King, a young women going to a bookstore, and Vanilla who is taking Cream to the antique shop by the pier. Sonic unwittingly picks up Eggman but due to Sonic's cab disguise, Eggman doesn't notice him. Eggman requests to be taken to the edge of the jungle and proceeds to tell his life story, about how Sonic ruined his plans to take over South Island, how his grandfather Gerald was killed, and Shadow turned on him. They arrive at the jungle but Eggman realizes he doesn't have enough money to cover his fare. He tries to pay using Cubot before running off. Sonic catches up to Eggman where he reveals himself before using his homing attack. Eggman gives up several rings which Sonic uses as the cab fare before driving back to the city. A drunk Locke stumbles into the taxi and asks to be taken home, despite travel by car to Angel Island being impossible. Time runs out for the challenge and Sonic only comes up with a few hundred dollars compared to Axel's $10,000. Sonic shows off his rings and the value of which makes him win the challenge with $65,000. Axel concedes defeat and makes amends with Sonic before they go their separate ways. Sonic drives back home and tells his family he made enough money from one day of being a cab driver. After Sonic snaps Amy out of her Lazy Town trance, she tells him what he can do with the money he earned. Sonic then pulls up to Knuckles' driveway with a blue Dodge Ram and tells him it came from the funds he made from his taxi job. He then drives home to sweep Amy off her feet before putting her down to make dinner. Sonic then takes the kids out to the candy store in his new ride.
